Our Community

LakewoodAlive’s mission is to foster and sustain vibrant neighborhoods. We seek to ensure everyone lives in healthy and safe housing, strengthening our vibrant commercial corridors and helping lift the community’s quality of life through play, volunteerism, and beautification. An inner-ring, street-car suburb, Lakewood is home to 52,000 people in 5.5 square miles making it the most densely populated community in Ohio. We are proud of our historic homes, family-run businesses, cutting edge library system, revitalized schools, tree-lined streets, parks, churches and neighbors. Lakewood’s small businesses are the backbone of our commercial corridors along Detroit and Madison avenues. Ranging from nearly a dozen coffee shops to retail for anyone’s needs to restaurants serving Indian, Lebanese, American and all fare in between, small business is big business in Lakewood. Our residents are passionate about Lakewood. More than 80% of our nearly 13,000 one- and two-family homes are 80 years or older. We love our old homes and LakewoodAlive is proud to help teach folks how to sustain our historic housing stock. In Lakewood, we love to have fun. LakewoodAlive host special events year-round from Light Up Lakewood to Summer Meltdown, Front Porch Concert Series, Spooky Pooch Parade. The Chamber of Commerce celebrates Lakewood’s culinary vibrancy with the Taste of Lakewood each June. And the City of Lakewood hosts the wildly popular Lakewood Arts Fest each August along with Summer Solstice celebration annually on June 21 at Lakewood Park.   Seeking to open a business in Lakewood?  Check out this Available Commercial Properties map courtesy of the City of Lakewood.  Contact the LakewoodAlive office at 216-521-0655 to learn more about Lakewood’s commitment to upholding its long-held reputation as a community that supports small businesses and welcomes those with an entrepreneurial spirit.
