Community Engagement

LakewoodAlive’s Community Engagement Program focuses on improving the quality of life for residents through door-knocking, one-on-one appointments, and connecting residents to resources. This resident-focused approach to building community helps build pride in the neighborhoods while ensuring healthy and safe housing.

While supporting residents city-wide, the Community Engagement Program focuses on Ward 4 including the Birdtown Neighborhood.

The annual Battle of Birdtown softball game and community picnic is a highlight of the year each June, as LakewoodAlive staff and volunteers celebrate the neighborhoods vibrancy.

Services the Community Engagement Program offers include:

-Project Safety offers residents smoke alarms and, for those who income qualify, carbon monoxide detectors

-Coordinating Lakewood’s Bed Bug program by supporting residents who suspect they might have an infestation

-Supporting volunteer projects throughout the community

-Bolstering green spaces including installing public gardens

-Connecting residents to resources including Cleveland Housing Network’s Weatherization Program
