Live music starts at 7 p.m. from the front porch of Lakewood Public Library
There’s just something about jazz music. The genre’s smooth rhythms and creative improvisations have the power to captivate an audience, and such will be the case this Friday, August 31, when The Chris Vance Quartet performs at LakewoodAlive’s Front Porch Concert Series.
Sponsored by Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James, the Front Porch Concert Series features free, live music on the front steps of Lakewood Public Library (15425 Detroit Avenue) in Downtown Lakewood from 7 to 9 p.m. for 12 consecutive Fridays. The series, which aims to foster Lakewood’s vibrancy while providing a family-friendly summer entertainment option, runs through September 7.
Week 11 of the series is presented by Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) and features The Chris Vance Quartet. This seasoned group of musicians consists of friends who have diverse musical backgrounds and specialize in playing jazz music. They are fronted by Chris Vance, a mainstay in the local music scene who has been performing and offering private musical instruction for more than a decade.
Vance, formerly the owner of a Lakewood-based music studio now known as The Lakewood Music Collective, has been instrumental in helping to develop the Front Porch Concert Series over the years, and he still welcomes the opportunity to perform at this unique venue in Downtown Lakewood.
Now in its ninth year, LakewoodAlive’s popular Front Porch Concert Series adds vibrancy and an enhanced sense of community to Lakewood’s urban core, drawing several thousand attendees annually. Each week showcases a different style of music while Lakewoodites and visitors enjoy an entertaining evening at an open-air venue. Visit LakewoodAlive.org/FrontPorchConcerts for more information.
