Ernie Krivda Quartet Takes Stage at Front Porch Concert Series this Friday, September 2

It’s not every day the word “legend” gets attached to a musician, yet that’s rightfully the case for Ernie Krivda.  The legendary Cleveland tenor saxophonist will perform in Downtown Lakewood when the Ernie Krivda Quartet brings a smooth jazz sound to LakewoodAlive’s Front Porch Concert Series at 7 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 2.

The Ernie Krivda Quartet performs this Friday, Sept. 2, during week 10 of the Front Porch Concert Series.

Sponsored by Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James, the Front Porch Concert Series features free, live music on the front porch of Lakewood Public Library (15425 Detroit Avenue) in Downtown Lakewood for 12 consecutive Fridays.  The series, which aims to foster and sustain Lakewood’s vibrancy while providing a family-friendly summer entertainment option, runs through September 16.

Week 10 of the series brings to the stage the Ernie Krivda Quartet.  Consisting of Krivda, along with fellow talented musicians Dave Thomas, Bob Fraser and Renell Gonsalves, the foursome will delight the Downtown Lakewood audience with a diverse selection of jazz music.

Krivda, currently in his fifth decade as a jazz performer, is renowned by peers and critics alike as one of the great tenor saxophone players of his time.  The longtime musician has composed, recorded and performed extensively throughout his remarkable jazz career.  In 2009 Krivda received the Cleveland Arts Prize award for lifetime achievement in music.

“We’re thrilled to bring this concert to Downtown Lakewood,” said Ian Andrews, Executive Director for LakewoodAlive.  “We’ve had the privilege to host Ernie and his quartet previously, so we have a deep admiration for his talent and the reputation he’s earned during his noteworthy career as a jazz musician.”

This week’s concert features sponsor Pillars of Lakewood, a member-driven club that focuses on building connections. Stop by and meet the folks who put on the Lakewood Wing Crawl, among other activities.

Now in its sixth year, the popular Front Porch Concert Series adds vibrancy and an enhanced sense of community to Lakewood’s urban core, drawing several thousand attendees annually.  Each week showcases a different style of music while Lakewoodites and visitors enjoy an entertaining evening at an open-air venue.  Attendees are encouraged to bring family, friends, snacks, blankets and chairs.

The Front Porch Concert Series is generously supported by the following sponsors: Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James, Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, City of Lakewood, Cox Communications, Discount Drug Mart, Lakewood Public Library, Lion & Blue, Paisley Monkey, Pillars of Lakewood and Vance Music Studios.
