Past Meets Present Meets Future at Scenic Park House Project

Past, present and future – all three remain relevant for the house at 1427 Scenic Street on Lakewood’s western end.

As construction continues to progress and the prospect of this 1,425-square-foot structure serving as a family’s home draws closer to fulfillment, it’s worthwhile to reflect on the property’s past as a vacant lot. A remarkable transformation has occurred in the three months since ground first broke on April 30.

There’s also an eye towards the distant future. Dana Paul, owner of Prairie Stone Group, the company spearheading the project, and LakewoodAlive are collaborating to bury a time capsule underneath the back porch. Someday a future generation will discover buried items pertaining to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship, the upcoming presidential election and other memories from 2016.

Yet most of all the Scenic Park House Project is fixated on the present. Paul remains focused on current projects requiring strong attention to detail, such as boxing in piping and tin with wood and running the line for a state-of-the-art PEX water system. These important tasks lay the foundation for future construction milestones, including installation of siding and drywall.

“I really enjoy each of the next aspects of the job that I’m involved with,” said Paul, himself a Lakewood resident.

Future phases of the project, however, might prove more glamorous. The home’s lower level has taken shape, revealing an open interior concept featuring versatility for incorporating a kitchen, dining room and living room. An oak bench will provide seating near the staircase, adding yet another element of charm.

The Scenic Park House Project remains on track for its scheduled completion in late 2016. Check back frequently for continued updates.
