The American flag carries many symbolisms.  In this case, it signifies that the dream of a beautiful new home in an historic neighborhood is well on its way to fruition.

In a span of less than three months since excavation commenced on April 30, the house at 1427 Scenic Street in Lakewood’s Historic Scenic Park Neighborhood has come a long way.  From foundation to frame to preparation for the eventual addition of siding, the construction process reveals visual progress nearly every day.

Recent signs of progress at 1427 Scenic Street include the installation of a front door and a staircase.

Dana Paul, owner of Prairie Stone Group, the company spearheading the project, recently added an American flag to the project’s newly-minted front porch.

“It’s a tradition, I’ve always done it,” said Paul of the flag.  “Whenever I’m building or renovating a house, it’s one of the first things I try to do once I have a front porch or a column to hang it on.”

Recent signs of progress at 1427 Scenic Street include the installation of a front door and a staircase, meaning a ladder is no longer necessary to access the second floor.  A plumber completed the drains and vents, and the metal is done for the ductwork.  Soon electric work will begin, as well as implementation of domestic water lines using the innovative PEX water system that reduces the likelihood of leaks.

Speaking of water, Paul indicated the exceptionally warm summer weather has not proven problematic for him and his crew – so long as they stay properly hydrated.  “We’re used to these types of conditions,” said Paul as he provided a tour of the home and pointed out the impressive view of the Rocky River Valley from an oversized upstairs window.

Once the workday concluded, Paul prepared to trade in his construction gear for his bicycle.  Another day of progress was complete, and a cruise through the Cleveland Metroparks was in order.

The Scenic Park House Project remains on track for it scheduled completion in late 2016.  Check back frequently for continued updates.
