LakewoodAlive is excited to welcome Alex Schreck to our team to serve as Staff Program Assistant.  In this role Alex works with staff members to support executing each of LakewoodAlive’s programs, while also serving as the first point of contact for greeting visitors to our office.

Alex arrives at LakewoodAlive with a variety of professional experience.  Prior to occupying a member services role for a local organization, she spent three years in Japan, serving as a conference planner and assistant language teacher for the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program.  She began her career as an intern for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

A native of Chicago, Alex graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, with a degree in Intercultural Communications.  She is fluent in Japanese.

Alex moved to Lakewood in 2017 and quickly became enamored by the city’s vibrancy and strong sense of community.  Her favorite local community event is Light Up Lakewood, and she is most looking forward to being involved with LakewoodAlive’s Housing Outreach Program.

“We’re really excited to have Alex join our team,” said Ian Andrews, Executive Director for LakewoodAlive.  “ Alex’s blend of unique experience and passion for our community positions her exceptionally well to contribute to our ongoing mission to foster and sustain vibrant neighborhoods in Lakewood.”

Alex currently resides on Detroit Avenue in Lakewood with her husband, Sean, and their cat, Nala.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, listening to music, photography and exploring Northeast Ohio’s wonderful assortment of parks.
