Live music starts at 7 p.m. from the front porch of Lakewood Public Library

For those about to rock, here’s your chance to salute them.  A quartet of talented ensembles representing The Lakewood Music Collective will entertain the crowd with a variety of musical offerings this Friday, August 16, during Week 8 of LakewoodAlive’s Front Porch Concert Series.

Sponsored by Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James, the Front Porch Concert Series features free, live music on the front steps of Lakewood Public Library (15425 Detroit Avenue) in Downtown Lakewood from 7 to 9 p.m. for 10 consecutive Fridays.  The series, which aims to foster Lakewood’s vibrancy while providing a family-friendly summer entertainment option, runs through August 30.

Week 8 is presented by The Exchange and features a performance by LMC Student Ensembles.  These talented student musicians represent The Lakewood Music Collective, a local music studio owned by Chris Parsons.

For this Friday’s performance, four ensembles will entertain the crowd with a wide array of musical offerings.  Error 707, an all-girl youth rock band, and Better Late, an adult rock band, will get the crowd rocking with their unique brands of rock-n-roll.  Additionally, a coffee shop ensemble will perform a variety of acoustic numbers and a student jazz band will break out their brass instruments.

“We are proud to work with LakewoodAlive in bringing music to our community,” said Parsons.  “The Front Porch Concert Series supports local talent while exposing the audience to entertaining and unique acts.  Our student ensembles are excited for the opportunity to perform on the front porch and bring some of their art to the community.  It is amazing that our students will be exposed to performing live in a public setting for the first time on Lakewood Public Library’s front porch.  The event is absolutely a culmination of culture, education and community!”

Now in its ninth year, LakewoodAlive’s popular Front Porch Concert Series adds vibrancy and an enhanced sense of community to Lakewood’s urban core, drawing several thousand attendees annually.  Each week showcases a different style of music while Lakewoodites and visitors enjoy an entertaining evening at an open-air venue.  Visit LakewoodAlive.org/FrontPorchConcerts for more information.
