Live music starts at 7 p.m. from the front porch of Lakewood Public Library
Just as Revolution Brass Band marches their way on stage, you should march to Lakewood Public Library this Friday, July 12, at 7 p.m. for Week 3 of LakewoodAlive’s 2019 Front Porch Concert Series.
Sponsored by Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James, the Front Porch Concert Series features free, live music on the front steps of Lakewood Public Library (15425 Detroit Avenue) in Downtown Lakewood from 7 to 9 p.m. for 10 consecutive Fridays. The series, which aims to foster Lakewood’s vibrancy while providing a family-friendly summer entertainment option, runs through August 30.
Week 3 is presented by Play Grounds Café and features a performance by Revolution Brass Band. This energetic, eight-piece group embraces a variety of genres when it performs, ranging from New Orleans jazz and funk, to soul and R&B.
Revolution Brass Band was founded in the pubs of Cleveland by Jacob Wynne and the late John Keugeler. Their inspiration sprang from the New Orleans tradition of “second-line” funerals and the festivities of Mardi Gras, but filtered through an urban, 21st century sensibility. In addition to performing covers, Revolution Brass Band also offers unique original arrangements.
Now in its ninth year, LakewoodAlive’s popular Front Porch Concert Series adds vibrancy and an enhanced sense of community to Lakewood’s urban core, drawing several thousand attendees annually. Each week showcases a different style of music while Lakewoodites and visitors enjoy an entertaining evening at an open-air venue. Visit LakewoodAlive.org/FrontPorchConcerts for more information.
