Live music starts at 7 p.m. from the front porch of Lakewood Public Library

Sometimes experimentation is the best way to achieve your desired sound.  Such is the case for The Robin Blake Sound Experiment, which takes the stage for LakewoodAlive’s 2019 Front Porch Concert Series at 7 p.m. this Friday, July 5.

Sponsored by Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James, the Front Porch Concert Series features free, live music on the front steps of Lakewood Public Library (15425 Detroit Avenue) in Downtown Lakewood from 7 to 9 p.m. for 10 consecutive Fridays.  The series, which aims to foster Lakewood’s vibrancy while providing a family-friendly summer entertainment option, runs through August 30.

Week 2 is presented by The Exchange and features a performance by The Robin Blake Sound Experiment. This crowd-pleasing band blends various genres, including funk, hip hop, jazz, and urban contemporary.

The Robin Blake Sound Experiment enjoys tiptoeing between a jam band and groove orchestra.  The group officially formed in 2018 but its members have been playing together for years prior.  Not one to resist a musical adventure, the group enjoys exploring music as a universal language and touching the audience with their sound.

“The universal language of music is one that my companions and I are infinitely exploring, and anyone who knows me knows that I love putting a bunch of diverse, unique people in a room together and seeing what happens.  That’s what this group is to me,” said band lead Robin Blake.

Now in its ninth year, LakewoodAlive’s popular Front Porch Concert Series adds vibrancy and an enhanced sense of community to Lakewood’s urban core, drawing several thousand attendees annually.  Each week showcases a different style of music while Lakewoodites and visitors enjoy an entertaining evening at an open-air venue.  Visit LakewoodAlive.org/FrontPorchConcerts for more information.
