LakewoodAlive is excited to welcome Devon Chodzin to our staff to serve as Event & Volunteer Coordinator. In this role Devon will assist with orchestrating LakewoodAlive’s diverse slate of community events and help organize volunteers for housing projects undertaken by our Housing Outreach Department.
Devon arrives at LakewoodAlive as a recent graduate of Kenyon College, where he majored in Economics and Women & Gender Studies. Last summer he completed an internship with Somerville Community Corporation in Massachusetts, assisting with data analysis for a job assistance program.
Devon previously served as an AmeriCorps Summer VISTA for LakewoodAlive during the summers of 2016 and 2017. In this role he proved integral to helping LakewoodAlive’s Housing Outreach Program increase its capacity to serve more residents, recruit more volunteers and strengthen the community’s historic housing stock.
Having stayed connected to our organization ever since his AmeriCorps Summer VISTA experience, Devon helped LakewoodAlive to secure a Forest Foundation Grant in 2018. He looks forward to playing a key role with LakewoodAlive’s Housing Outreach Program, as well as with helping to orchestrate our 2019 community events, starting with the Lakewood Summer Meltdown on July 13.
A 2015 graduate of Lakewood High School and a Help to Others (H20) alumnus, Devon has lived in Lakewood nearly his entire life.
“We are thrilled to have Devon join our team,” said Ian Andrews, Executive Director for LakewoodAlive. “Devon’s passion for community development, coupled with his unique blend of skills and prior experience with our organization, position him exceptionally well to contribute to our mission to foster and sustain vibrant neighborhoods in Lakewood.”
Devon currently resides on Lakewood’s Clarence Avenue with his family. In his spare time, he’s a concert-goer, an avid reader and a coffee connoisseur. Devon enjoys volunteering and would like to pursue homebrewing in the future.
