Gemstone Contest Open to Guests at LakewoodAlive’s Sold-Out Fundraiser on Feb. 23
Don’t be surprised if guests at LakewoodAlive’s 15th anniversary fundraising event start saying, “I’ll get you, my pretty!”
LakewoodAlive announces that Loving Lakewood: There’s No Place Like Home will feature The Great and Powerful Gem Game – a contest whereby one lucky winner will receive a .58-carat ruby gemstone with a retail value of $1,450, as well as a $250 credit towards a setting for the ruby at Lion and Blue.
Sponsored by Cleveland Property Management Group, There’s No Place Like Home takes place Saturday, Feb. 23, at the historic Lakewood Masonic Temple in Downtown Lakewood. More than 225 guests will don cocktail attire with Wizard of Oz flair to partake in a celebration of 15 years of LakewoodAlive, and 10 years of the Housing Outreach Program.
Guests at this sold-out fundraising event will have the opportunity to purchase gemstones (there will be 52 in total) for $39 each, in honor of the 80th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, which premiered in 1939. Each gemstone sold onsite at the Masonic Temple will be accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine. The suspense while awaiting the contest winner will have guests thinking, “If I only had a gem!”
As the evening progresses, Michael Dolatowski – a renowned local jeweler and co-owner of Lion and Blue – will begin inspecting each gemstone until the lucky purchaser of the valuable ruby gemstone is found. The winner will be presented with a certificate of authenticity and will be able to coordinate a visit to Lion and Blue for a setting.
The Great and Powerful Gem Game and all proceeds from There’s No Place Like Home will support LakewoodAlive’s programming as we strive to foster and sustain vibrant neighborhoods in Lakewood.
