Northeast Ohio will be thrust squarely into the national spotlight this summer when Cleveland hosts the Republican National Convention, and you have a unique opportunity to partake in this historic event.

The Cleveland 2016 Host Committee, Inc. – a nonprofit organization with no political affiliation – is seeking Lakewood residents to volunteer their time and assist with its mission to showcase our region in a positive manner during the Convention.  As such, the City of Lakewood, Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and LakewoodAlive have joined forces to recruit approximately 60 volunteers per day during Convention Week (July 16-23).

While there are many worthwhile volunteer roles to be occupied during the RNC, Lakewoodites have been tasked with serving as the welcoming party to our region and initial point-of-contact for arriving convention-goers at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.  There, they’ll be responsible for answering visitors’ questions about Cleveland, offering sightseeing advice and distributing information on behalf of the Host Committee.

The available volunteer shifts are as follows:  Saturday, July 16 (8-Noon; Noon-4 and 4-8), Sunday, July 17 (8-Noon; Noon-4 and 4-8), Monday, July 18 (8-Noon; Noon-4), Friday, July 22 (8-Noon; Noon-4 and 4-8) and Sunday July 23 (8-Noon).  Approximately 20 volunteers are needed for each shift.

Selection to volunteer for the Convention requires a serious commitment.  Each volunteer is required to fill two shifts in order to participate, as well as undergo a background check and training sessions.  Yet this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is bound to afford you a special chance to serve as an ambassador for our region and create lasting memories in the process.  Help us show off Northeast Ohio to the nation!
