Public Spaces and Design Assistance Projects

LakewoodAlive partners with residents, merchants, city departments, and property owners to activate public spaces, strengthen commercial areas’ sense of place through urban design, and embrace Lakewood’s unique-ness. LakewoodAlive’s Design Committee is comprise of architects, developers, urban planners, landscape architects, and engaged citizens who want to help make their mark on the community. Want to help?   • campbellKauffman Park Master Plan
  • City Center Park Improvements
    • In partnership with the City of Lakewood and The Coral Company, LakewoodAlive volunteers have redesigned and planted the former Sinagra Park across from Rozi’s Wine House since 2011.
  • Downtown Blossom Program
    • Participating merchants buy flowers each spring and volunteers coordinate the program, plant and water through the summer and fall.
  • Madison Avenue Planters
    • Cliffs Natural Resources built and donated 24 planter boxes to beautify Birdtown on Madison Avenue. LakewoodAlive and CityEdge Church planted and placed the boxes in 2013. A new volunteer committee will roll out a beautification plan in 2015.
  • Storefront Renovation Design Services
    • LakewoodAlive partners with the City of Lakewood’s Department of Community Development’s Storefront Renovation Program, which provides rebates of up to 40 percent or up to $30,000 in grant assistance for the renovation of Lakewood storefronts. We identify potential applicants (commercial property owners) and provide them with conceptual renderings to start the process.
  • Storefront Facade Improvement Services
    • LakwoodAlive supports the City of Lakewood’s Department of Community Development’s Facade Improvement Program, which offers rebates of up to 50 percent of total eligible costs or up to $2,500 in financial assistance.  We strive to identify applicants (commercial property owners) who stand to benefit from exterior storefront improvements pertaining to signage, lighting, awnings and landscaping.
  • Streetscape Planning and Signange
    • LakewoodAlive partnered with the City of Lakewood and Studio Graphique to develop and implement the Downtown signage program along with a demonstration project of new, decorative lights in front of Geiger’s as a model for the future of the Downtown District.
  • Sign Package and Site Plan Assistance
    • Help is available for new and existing businesses to integrate their sign package and site plans into a vibrant, urban environment. Contact  to learn more.
